After WWII, Saipan was administered by the U.S. and since 1978, it became the commonwealth of the U.S. in the western Pacific Ocean. Saipan is one of the largest islands in the Northern Mariana Islands. Tourism is one of the biggest industries and people visit Saipan for various reasons, may it be to enjoy the clear beaches, golf, or to visit the memorial sites to mourn the dead.
